Motorola Dext Midnight Titanium – First Look

Motorola’s first offering of Android technology -The DEXT is here. It’s the first handset to showcase the company’s MOTOBLUR technology. Supporting the latest Android 1.5 operating system and MOTOBLUR technology - this smart phone is one to watch. Dext is the first phone to use the Google Android platform is great for tracking tweets, status updates and emails. Its 3.1" touch screen navigates around the home screen dedicated to widgets and social networking links. There's also a Full QWERTY keyboard for those yet to try virtual typing.

The MOTOBLUR technology is the DEXT's winning feature allowing instant access and updates to social networking sites straight from the homepage and provides the option to customize each different home screen. But that's not all it can back up and save the contents of each mobile - never again will work be lost completely and the potential success of this phone is software-led, but I'll get the appearance and feel of it out of the way first.

To summaries, it's solid but not spectacular. The size is 58 x 114 x 15.85mm. It has a slide out keyboard with pillowed keys; it is fairly easy to use, even though the keys are packed closely together. The buttons on the front of the phone look touch sensitive, but are actually fairly tactile with a satisfying click to help you navigate around the phone. There's also all the usual stuff at hand - WiFi - Bluetooth - a 5 mega pixel camera - along with a document viewer and micro SD slot allowing up to 32GB of storage. All that crammed into a sleek compact handset means the DEXT is without doubt Motorola's return form.
